Swiss Crypto Bank Seba Rebrands as Amina
Major Swiss cryptocurrency-enabled bank Seba is changing its name to Amina as it aims to expand its trading services globally. The new name, derived from the term “transamination,” reflects the bank’s mission to combine traditional, digital, and crypto banking. Previously known as Seba, the name was a play on the founder’s name, Sebastien Merillat. Seba recently obtained licenses from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission and Abu Dhabi Global Market, allowing it to offer crypto trading services in those regions.
Continued Global Expansion
Amina CEO expressed their ambition to accelerate growth in strategic hubs such as Switzerland, Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, and APAC. The bank currently provides traditional and crypto banking services to clients globally. The rebranding will not affect existing clients, with operations continuing as usual.
A Major Player in the Crypto Ecosystem
Established in 2018, Amina plays a significant role in the cryptocurrency ecosystem by enabling financial institutions to offer crypto-related services. In partnership with Seba, Switzerland’s St.Galler Kantonalbank started providing digital asset custody and brokerage services to its clients.
Hot Take: Amina Bank Expands Its Reach
Amina’s decision to rebrand reflects its commitment to global expansion and the integration of different forms of banking. With its regulatory licenses and partnerships with major financial institutions, Amina is poised to continue its growth in the cryptocurrency industry.
