Israel seizes millions in crypto from Iran and Hezbollah-linked accounts

The Israeli government has reportedly seized millions of dollars’ worth of cryptocurrencies tied to Iran’s military arm, Quds Force, and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. Wallet addresses associated with these organizations were allegedly used to finance terror-related operations in Israel. This is said to be the first significant cryptocurrency seizure of its kind, made possible by the efforts of the Mossad intelligence agency, military intelligence, and local police. In recent months, the Israeli government has also captured numerous Binance accounts linked to terrorism and money laundering. The largest crypto exchange, Binance, is said to have cooperated with the government in tracking these criminal accounts. A ruling introduced in December 2022 allows the Israeli government to seize all crime-related crypto assets, even if they are not directly tied to terrorist groups.
