NFT marketplace Magic Eden has announced its plans to incorporate BRC-20 token functionality into its open-source secondary marketplace and creator launchpad. The move is aimed at diversifying the platform and expanding its offerings. The integration of BRC-20 tokens will allow users to directly accumulate BRC-20 projects and enable creators to initiate their own BRC-20 drops for in-platform minting. BRC-20 tokens, introduced by developer Domo in March 2023, allow for the creation and transfer of fungible tokens on the bitcoin blockchain using the Ordinals protocol. This integration with Magic Eden could increase the dispersion and user-friendliness of BRC-20 tokens, which have previously had limited interaction through platforms like Unisat and Alex. Magic Eden aims to become the most comprehensive NFT platform in the bitcoin ecosystem by consolidating the division between bitcoin ordinals and BRC-20 tokens.
