ARK Investment Management, led by Cathie Wood, is reportedly leading the race for a bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) ahead of BlackRock, according to industry reports. BlackRock recently initiated an application for a BTC ETF, but there is speculation that ARK and European asset manager 21Shares are frontrunners for the spot. The SEC decision date on Aug. 13, 2023, which is earlier than other decision dates, could benefit ARK, 21Shares, and the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE). The filing by BlackRock has raised questions about the firm having exclusive knowledge of the SEC’s stance on bitcoin ETFs. While there is hope for the introduction of a spot bitcoin ETF in the US market, experts believe it may not happen soon.
