Unstoppable Domains Launches Decentralized Messaging Service
Unstoppable Domains, a Web3 domain provider, has introduced a new messaging service called “Unstoppable Messaging.” This service allows users to securely communicate using Web3 domain names like “.crypto” and “.x.” It is interoperable with other XMTP-enabled communities, such as Coinbase Wallet and Lens apps, and users can message others by entering their wallet address or domain. Unstoppable Domains plans to expand the service to other dapps through the Push Protocol. Web3 domain names provide a user-friendly alternative to complex crypto addresses.
User-Owned and Encrypted Messages
Unstoppable Messaging ensures that users have full ownership of their messages. Messages are encrypted and stored on XMTP’s decentralized network, allowing users to access their chats on any XMTP platform. Users can also block unwanted contacts. To start using Unstoppable Messaging, users need to set up a “Reverse Resolution” for their web3 domain and initiate their first conversation by clicking on the chat icon. The feature is currently available on the Unstoppable iOS app and website, with Android support coming soon.
Expansion to Other Blockchains
In addition to Ethereum, Unstoppable Domains has also released web3 domain names for other blockchains. They created the domain ending “.polygon” in partnership with Polygon Labs for the Polygon blockchain. Unstoppable Domains also supports BNB Chain and Solana, among other networks.
Hot Take
Unstoppable Domains’ launch of the “Unstoppable Messaging” service further enhances the functionality and usability of Web3 domain names. By providing secure and user-owned messaging capabilities, Unstoppable Domains is empowering crypto users to communicate more efficiently and safely within the decentralized ecosystem. This development highlights the ongoing innovation and expansion of Web3 technologies, making them more accessible to a wider audience.
