FTX 2.0 Relaunch Plans and Bidding Deadline Disclosed

The Possible Relaunch of FTX Cryptocurrency Exchange

Bloomberg has reported that FTX, a defunct cryptocurrency exchange, is considering rebooting its operations and releasing a new version of the exchange next year. This move is expected to revive the market activity that had been subdued since the market collapse in November 2022. FTX has contacted over 75 bidders to gauge their interest in supporting the relaunch. Several bids have been submitted and are currently under review. The estate has set a deadline for new bids on September 24th. TRON founder Justin Sun is reportedly considering bidding for the exchange’s tokens and assets.

Plans for FTX 2.0

The estate is considering different structures for the launch of FTX 2.0, including acquisition, merger, recapitalization, or other transaction options. A stalking-horse bid will be selected on October 16th, and an amended plan will be filed by the end of the year. The estate has already recovered $7 billion in assets, including Solana, Bitcoin, and Ethereum. FTX imploded in November due to allegations of mishandling customer deposits by the former CEO, Sam Bankman-Fried. John Ray III took over as CEO and has hinted at the possibility of a revival, sparking mixed reactions within the crypto community.

Hot Take: FTX’s Relaunch Sparks Debate

The news of FTX considering a relaunch has generated mixed feelings within the crypto community. While some believe it would be highly unlikely due to past technical failures and software bugs, others are hopeful for a successful reboot. The progress of FTX 2.0 plans has been significant, with arrangements being made to settle cash payments to creditors. The relaunch of FTX has the potential to bring back market activity and provide a fresh start for the exchange. It remains to be seen how the estate will proceed with the selection of bids and the execution of their chosen plan.
