MetaMask Expands Compatibility with Snaps Integration
MetaMask, the popular cryptocurrency wallet, is expanding its compatibility beyond Ethereum and Ethereum-compatible blockchains. With the introduction of Snaps, software modules that can be integrated into the MetaMask wallet, users will now be able to use MetaMask on non-EVM blockchains like Cosmos, Solana, and Starknet.
Onboarding Third-Party Developers for Snaps
MetaMask plans to release over 25 Snaps initially, offering various add-on features that have undergone security audits and have been whitelisted by the team. Furthermore, MetaMask intends to allow third-party developers to independently ship and maintain Snaps, promoting an open platform for innovation.
The team has already engaged with more than 150 developers to expand the development work on Snaps. According to Christian Montoya, the product lead for MetaMask Snaps, they believe in permissionless innovation and do not charge developers for publishing Snaps on the platform.
