Ukraine Releases List of Top IT Companies to Boost Global Expansion
The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and ІТ Ukraine Association have unveiled a list of the country’s top IT companies in an effort to promote Ukrainian products globally. The list includes 96 startups and product companies, including four crypto and blockchain-related firms. Among them are Kuna, a B2B platform for crypto banking; Hacken, a blockchain security auditor; Lawyerd, a blockchain-based platform for brand protection; and V-Art, a blockchain-based licensing platform with NFT support.
Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov acknowledged that the country is focusing on developing defense tech solutions but also emphasized that Ukraine has become a testing ground for the latest technologies. He expressed pride in the resilience of Ukrainian IT companies, which have thrived despite challenging circumstances like war and blackouts.
“Ukraine is proud to be a homeland for hundreds well-known IT companies and startups, which managed to develop & scale even in war time conditions, during blackouts and missile attacks.”

Challenges Faced by the Ukrainian Crypto Market
While Ukraine celebrates its thriving IT sector, the country’s crypto market is facing difficulties. The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has reportedly imposed an unspoken ban on all banking operations related to cryptocurrencies. In April 2022, the central bank prohibited the purchase of cryptocurrency using the national currency, Ukrainian hryvnia, citing martial law.
Kuna CEO Mykhailo Chobanian revealed in an interview that the NBU’s actions effectively “killed the crypto market” as part of efforts to combat money laundering schemes and illegal online casinos in Ukraine.
Hot Take: Ukraine’s IT Sector Shines Amidst Crypto Market Challenges
Despite the challenges faced by the Ukrainian crypto market, the country’s IT sector continues to thrive and gain international recognition. The Ministry of Digital Transformation’s release of the top IT companies list aims to further boost Ukraine’s reputation as a global tech hub.
With a focus on defense tech solutions and a resilient spirit, Ukrainian IT companies have managed to flourish even in the face of adversity. However, the crypto market remains under pressure due to the National Bank of Ukraine’s restrictions on banking operations related to cryptocurrencies.
As Ukraine navigates these challenges, it remains a promising destination for technological innovation and showcases its potential as a testbed for cutting-edge technologies.
