John Deaton, a lawyer supporting the XRP cryptocurrency, recently made a significant announcement regarding Ethereum. In a broadcast on his X platform, Deaton revealed that he had three announcements to make, with the first one addressing the irregularities surrounding Ethereum’s Initial Coin Offering (ICO).
Deaton mentioned that he had been in contact with Steven Nerayoff, an influential figure in the crypto space who was involved in Ethereum’s ICO. According to Deaton, Nerayoff shared some evidence with him that shed light on why he believes he was targeted. However, due to attorney-client privilege, Deaton was limited in what he could disclose.
Deaton also noted that some individuals who distanced themselves from Nerayoff during his indictment were not being truthful. He did not mention any names but hinted at potential connections between the SEC and Ethereum.
A Potential Epic Cross-Examination
Deaton suggested that if the SEC’s case against Ripple’s founders goes to trial, Bill Himman’s cross-examination would be of “epic proportions.” He even offered to join Ripple’s legal team for free to handle this specific cross-examination. Himman is believed to have played a key role in any regulatory leniency granted to Ethereum by the SEC.

Prior to his big announcement, Deaton revealed that he would be joining the SpendTheBits team as an angel investor. SpendTheBits is a mobile payment app built on the XRP Ledger. Deaton expressed excitement about being part of the project.
Lastly, Deaton announced the launch of his memoir titled “Food Stamp Warrior.” The book tackles taboo topics such as poverty, violence, drugs, sex, addiction, abuse, and race. Deaton also criticizes the SEC regulators in the book.
