Paradigm Launches Policy Lab to Drive Crypto Policy
Crypto venture capital firm Paradigm has announced the launch of a Policy Lab, which aims to bring together academics, policy experts, lawyers, and technologists to address critical policy issues in the crypto industry. The lab will produce research, commentary, and advocacy on these issues.
Inaugural Academic Fellows Named
As part of the launch, Paradigm Policy Lab has named two academic fellows from Harvard University and Columbia University. These fellows will study “regulatory equivalence” and explore how the same policy outcomes can be achieved through regulation or technological architecture.
Fighting for Clearer Regulations
Paradigm has been actively involved in advocating for clearer regulations in the crypto industry. In August, it filed an amicus brief in support of Coinbase in a case involving the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The firm also recently hired Alexander Grieve as its government relations lead.
The Gap to Fill
The core goal of the Policy Lab is to impact policy in the medium- to long-term by providing high-quality, data-driven research. The lab aims to fill the gap in technical research and data that can inform thoughtful policy decisions.
Research Hub and User Submissions
The Policy Lab will host a Research Hub that will tackle specific policy questions relevant to the crypto ecosystem. It will accept user submissions and offer grant funding of up to $5,000 for approved research proposals.
Improving Data Quality for Regulators
The Policy Lab also aims to improve the quality of data used by regulators. By bringing together policymakers, academics, and technologists, it hopes to bridge the gap between technical policymakers and those with crypto-specific knowledge.
