Rollout of Cartesi’s Rollup Network Commences with Debut App Honeypot

Cartesi Launches First Decentralized App on Ethereum Mainnet

Cartesi, a rollup protocol with a virtual machine that runs Linux distributions, has released its first decentralized app (dapp) called Honeypot on the Ethereum mainnet. The purpose of Honeypot is to enable developers and ethical hackers to test the security of Cartesi’s code in exchange for a bounty reward.

The launch of the Honeypot dapp will help stress-test Cartesi’s base code on the mainnet, ensuring its reliability for other dapps built on the platform.

Participants in the Honeypot challenge have the opportunity to hack into the system and withdraw 1,772,889 Cartesi tokens worth $265,000 from the network. However, breaking the algorithm that allows only the Cartesi Foundation’s account to withdraw funds is no easy task.

Gabriel Barros, a developer advocacy contributor to Cartesi, expressed excitement about inviting developers to test Cartesi’s Rollup infrastructure through this gamified challenge.

What is Cartesi?

Cartesi is a Layer 2 network that simplifies the development of complex dapps by bridging traditional development with blockchain solutions. The platform enables off-chain computations in a Linux environment, which can be verified by the blockchain. This integration allows developers to utilize existing software and tools while maintaining consistency across all nodes.

The significance of Cartesi’s Linux environment lies in its familiarity and widespread adoption. As one of the most widely used operating systems, Linux offers developers access to a vast ecosystem of tools and libraries commonly used in traditional web applications.

By importing familiar programming tools and languages into the blockchain, Cartesi aims to eliminate limitations faced by web3 developers and unlock new possibilities for innovative applications.

Hot Take: Cartesi Empowers Developers with Linux-Based Dapps

Cartesi’s launch of the Honeypot dapp on the Ethereum mainnet marks a significant step towards empowering developers and strengthening the security of the Cartesi protocol. By inviting developers and ethical hackers to test the code through a gamified challenge, Cartesi ensures the robustness of its infrastructure while offering a lucrative reward for successful participants.

The integration of a Linux environment in Cartesi’s Layer 2 network brings familiarity and accessibility to developers, enabling them to leverage existing tools and libraries for building powerful dapps. This approach breaks down barriers and opens up new possibilities for innovation in the web3 space.
