VanEck Prepares for Launch of Ether Futures ETF
Investment manager VanEck has started promoting its upcoming Ether (ETH) futures exchange-traded fund (ETF), which is expected to be launched on October 2. VanEck released two TV commercials titled “Enter the Ether,” revealing that its Ethereum Strategy ETF, with the ticker EFUT, is coming soon. The commercials were accompanied by a press statement announcing that EFUT will be listed on the Chicago Board Options Exchange and managed by Greg Krenzer.
Analysts Suggest Sooner-than-Expected Launch
Bloomberg ETF analysts Eric Balchunas and James Seyffart believe that the TV ads indicate an earlier launch of Ether futures ETFs than anticipated. Seyffart expects VanEck’s ETF to launch on Monday, despite a document stating otherwise. He stated that the SEC is accelerating approvals for these types of products.
The “Enter the Ether” Advertisements
The first ad features five actors with deadpan expressions and strange music in the background. One actor mentions Ethereum in ETF form, followed by another actor saying “hodl or fork off.” The second ad suggests a forthcoming shift and emphasizes Ethereum’s gravitational pull.
Marketing War Expected
Balchunas predicts that as more ETFs are approved, there will be intense marketing efforts from issuers, especially when spot Bitcoin ETFs receive approval. He anticipates a marketing war among issuers launching their products simultaneously.
Potential Launch Due to Government Shutdown
Seyffart speculates that the SEC may allow several Ethereum futures ETFs to launch due to a possible U.S. government shutdown. Currently, there are 15 Ether futures ETFs from nine issuers seeking approval.
