Brazil Implements Nationwide Blockchain-Based ID Card
The government of Brazil has launched a nationwide blockchain-based ID card that will centralize the identity function of all states. Selected states will begin issuing the National Identity Card immediately, with all states required to adopt it by November 6. The digital document includes a QR code to verify its authenticity and linked documents, making it an effective tool against identity theft in Brazil. The new ID card also brings consistency, traceability, security, and independence to the service provided by the government.

Sunacrip, the Venezuelan cryptocurrency regulator, has been granted an extension of six months for its ongoing restructuring process. The intervention was initiated after the arrest of former Sunacrip head Joselit Ramirez due to alleged involvement in a corruption scheme. This extension prolongs the challenges faced by registered Bitcoin miners in Venezuela who are waiting for permission from Corpoelec, the national power company, to resume operations.
