Binance Collaborates with Thai Police to Disband Crypto Fraudulent Networks
Binance has joined forces with the Royal Thai Police to dismantle major cryptocurrency fraudulent networks in Thailand. Cracking Down on Pig Butchering Scam
In one operation, Binance’s Investigations team collaborated closely with the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) of the Royal Thai Police and the U.S. Homeland Security Investigation (HSI) to dismantle a criminal ring engaged in a pig butchering scam that affected thousands of people in Thailand. With intelligence provided by Binance and HSI, the CCIB arrested five leaders of the criminal group and seized assets worth around THB 10 billion ($277 million), including luxury cars, homes, land, and other high-value items. More than 3,200 victims have come forward seeking compensation since the crackdown.
Takedown of Transnational Crypto Scam
Binance also played a crucial role in dismantling a large-scale crypto scam operated by transnational criminal networks. The investigation led to arrests across 30 locations in Bangkok, Samut Prakan, and Udon Thani provinces. Binance provided essential intelligence to the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) while also sending an investigator to aid in obtaining an arrest warrant. This operation resulted in the seizure of illicit assets such as 16 luxury residences, 12 top-tier vehicles, and THB 16 million ($440,000) in cash.
