Nearly 50% of Crypto Investors Seek Financial Liquidity, Survey Reveals

A recent study conducted by Bitget, a cryptocurrency exchange, has revealed that approximately 50% of digital asset users invest in cryptocurrencies to achieve added financial liquidity. The survey involved 1,500 participants from 20 countries and highlighted the regional dynamics of crypto investments as well as their impact on gender and other social factors.

The survey found that 46% of respondents from South Korea viewed crypto investments as a means to improve their living standards, while similar views were expressed by 44% in Canada and 41% in Turkey. The rise of cryptocurrencies, particularly altcoins, has changed the perception of traditional finance for many users who see it as an opportunity to make money due to price volatility.

In Malaysia and Taiwan, 36% of participants also considered improved standards of living as the main motivation for investing in digital assets.

Gender Differences in Investment Objectives

The survey revealed interesting gender differences among crypto investors. In most countries, female investors prioritize improving their family’s general well-being more than their male counterparts, except for South Korea and Japan. In these two countries, more women (49% in South Korea and 41% in Japan) plan to use their investment rewards for personal purposes.

Education emerged as a significant factor driving investments in digital assets in the United States and Turkey. About 27% of female respondents from both countries expressed their intention to allocate investment profits towards the educational needs of their children. However, South Korea and Japan recorded lower percentages at 5% and 4%, respectively.

Investment Trends in Different Regions

The survey found that Chinese participants had a higher level of investment compared to other regions. Around 18% invested between $50,000 and $100,000 in virtual assets, while 19% invested between $100,000 and $500,000. In South Korea, 46% of investments ranged from $1,000 to $10,000, similar to figures observed among European investors.

The purpose of this research was to understand the investment motivations across different regions and track behavioral patterns among crypto users. A recent ConsenSys report also highlighted the increasing adoption of cryptocurrencies worldwide, with Nigeria leading in terms of crypto awareness despite previous regulatory challenges.

Hot Take: Understanding the Motivations Behind Crypto Investments

The Bitget survey provides valuable insights into the factors driving people to invest in cryptocurrencies. Financial liquidity emerges as a key motivation for nearly half of digital asset users, indicating a desire for improved living standards. Additionally, the survey sheds light on gender differences in investment objectives and reveals regional trends in investment levels.

These findings highlight the evolving perception of traditional finance and the opportunities presented by cryptocurrencies. As more individuals seek financial independence and wealth accumulation, cryptocurrencies continue to gain traction as a viable investment option. Understanding these motivations can help shape future developments in the crypto market and cater to the diverse needs of investors.
