The Quiet Maid Secures Global Sales Deal
“The Quiet Maid,” a feature film funded by the sale of NFTs, has recently signed a global sales agreement. The movie, which was previously titled “Calladita” and directed by Spanish filmmaker Miguel Faus, sold its world sales rights to FilmSharks, an Ibero-American entertainment firm. This deal was announced at the Iberseries industry conference in Madrid. The film follows the journey of a Colombian maid working for a wealthy and potentially deceitful Spanish family in Catalonia. Originally, Faus created a short film that caught the attention of streaming service Max and later decided to raise funds for a full-length version through the sale of NFT passes.
NFT Success and Funding
Faus successfully raised a production budget of $750,000 by selling NFT passes. These NFTs offered holders behind-the-scenes access to the film’s production and control over a portion of its future proceeds through a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). Additionally, director Steven Soderbergh awarded Faus $100,000 from an on-chain fund established by Decentralized Pictures to support promising filmmakers exploring non-traditional financing methods.

The Importance of Artistic Quality
While Faus is grateful for the blockchain-backed financing that helped bring his film to completion, he believes that the technology itself does not determine its artistic value. Faus stated, “I don’t think any success of the movie will come from the innovative and decentralized way it was funded. That was a success in its own right, but now the film has to find its audience and will appeal to them, or not, independently of how it came to exist.”
World Premiere at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival
“The Quiet Maid” is set to have its world premiere next month at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia. The film will compete in the First Feature category.
