Crypto Exchange Binance Launches UK Domain to Comply with FCA Regulations
Binance, one of the largest crypto exchanges, has launched a dedicated domain for its British users in order to comply with the new Financial Promotions Regime implemented by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) on October 8. The new domain, Binance.com/en-GB, will offer specific products and services approved by the financial regulator to retail users in the UK. These include crypto and fiat withdrawals, spot and margin trading, NFT marketplace, Binance Pay, and other approved services.
In order to ensure compliance with the updated regulations, Binance has partnered with Rebuilding Society, a peer-to-peer lending platform, which will review and approve the exchange’s marketing and communications materials.
Changes in Services Offered by Binance and OKX
As part of complying with the new regulations, Binance will no longer offer referral bonuses, research and academy services, or gift cards to its UK customers. These changes only affect retail users.
Following Binance’s lead, OKX exchange has also announced important changes to its services in accordance with the Financial Promotions Regime. OKX has reduced its token offering to 40+ assets and implemented clear risk warnings. Additionally, they have created a dedicated Twitter account for their UK customers to provide updates on approved products and services.
FCA’s Aim for Responsible Trading
The FCA’s new regulations are designed to ensure that users in the UK are fully aware of the risks associated with trading cryptocurrencies. By implementing these rules, the industry moves closer to reducing risks and potential regulation. Both Binance and OKX have expressed their commitment to responsible trading and educating their customers about these regulations.
