Trezor, a crypto hardware wallet company, is launching two new products today. The first is Trezor Safe, a new hardware wallet available in four colors and retailing for $79. The second is Trezor Keep Metal, a physical seed phrase store suitable for both 12-word and 24-word backups. It is available for $99 and can also be used for Shamir backup. To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Trezor’s bitcoin hardware wallet, the company is releasing a limited-edition Bitcoin-only Trezor Safe 3. Only 2,013 devices will be available at a retail price of $79, with €21 from each sale going to support the Trezor Academy.

A group of Japanese firms plans to issue a digital currency called DCJPY by July 2024. The yen-based coin will be backed by bank deposits and will enable seamless settlement of clean energy certificates. GMO Aozora Net Bank will issue DCJPY on a network launched by DeCurret. The coin is intended for use by Internet Initiative Japan for the settlement of clean energy certificates, with plans to make them tradable using blockchain technology.

CleanSpark, a Bitcoin miner, has purchased 4.4 exahashes per second (EH/s) of the recently announced Antminer S21 bitcoin mining machines. The S21 is nearly 20% more efficient than the previously most efficient bitcoin miner available in the market. The machines will be delivered starting in January 2024 and were purchased with favorable terms, including seller-based financing. CleanSpark expects the new machines to reduce power consumption per bitcoin mined and improve their margins.
