Roblox, the popular online game platform with over 200 million monthly active users, has announced that it now accepts XRP as a payment method. The news was shared by BitPay on Twitter on October 17, 2023.
Xsolla, the company responsible for managing in-game payments in Roblox, has partnered with BitPay to enable seamless transactions using XRP. This partnership allows users to use their favorite cryptocurrency to buy, play, and enjoy gaming on Roblox like never before.
Roblox: A Massive User Base and In-Game Purchases
Roblox is available on various platforms including Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. It boasts an impressive user base of 65.5 million daily active users, with 44% of them being under the age of 13. In the first quarter of 2023 alone, Roblox users spent approximately $773 million on in-game purchases.
Xsolla’s Efforts in Crypto Integration
Xsolla has been actively working towards integrating cryptocurrencies into its payment system. In August 2022, it partnered with Coinchange Financials Inc. and TradeZing to develop a payment solution for non-fungible tokens (NFTs). In August 2023, Xsolla collaborated with Crypto.com to integrate the latter’s checkout solution into its Pay Station platform.
A Long-Standing Partnership Between Xsolla and BitPay
The partnership between Xsolla and BitPay dates back to 2014 when BitPay started accepting payments in BTC. In September 2023, they introduced PayPal USD (PYUSD) payments for merchants and consumers.
