Gaming Giant Roblox Denies XRP Integration for In-Game Transactions
Gaming company Roblox has dismissed reports suggesting that Ripple’s XRP token can be used for transactions within its platform. The rumors began after a tweet from payment processor BitPay claimed that XRP was accepted as a payment method for games like Smite and Roblox. However, the tweet was later deleted, with BitPay’s CMO acknowledging an error in the post. Roblox clarified that while it works with payment provider Xsolla, it does not facilitate any cryptocurrency transactions, including Bitcoin and XRP. Xsolla also distanced itself from BitPay’s tweet and stated that it offers various payment options for developers.
Xsolla Provides Payment Solutions for Gaming Companies
Xsolla, a tech firm specializing in payment solutions, clarified that it offers a range of payment options for developers, with BitPay being just one of them. Xsolla’s website mentions that it provided a gift card solution for Roblox in 2020 and is listed as a payment provider on Roblox’s website for credit card transactions. In addition to Roblox, Xsolla also provides payment solutions for gaming companies such as Valve, Twitch, Epic Games, and Krafton.
Hot Take: Roblox Stays Crypto-Free Despite Rumors
Contrary to recent rumors, Roblox has made it clear that it does not support cryptocurrency transactions on its platform. Despite the initial tweet from BitPay suggesting the integration of XRP, Roblox maintains its stance against crypto payments. While the gaming giant does work with payment provider Xsolla, it emphasizes that no cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and XRP, can be used for in-game purchases. This reaffirms Roblox’s commitment to its existing payment methods and highlights its cautious approach towards cryptocurrencies in the gaming industry.
