Blockchain-Based NFT Game ‘Brawlers’ Launches on Epic Games Store
Web3 ecosystem for gaming, Worldwide Asset Exchange (WAX), has announced the launch of its blockchain-based wrestling-themed non-fungible token (NFT) game, Brawlers, on the Epic Games Store (EGS). This move makes the game available to over 230 million PC gamers globally.
Brawlers is a Player-vs-Player (PVP) card game designed by renowned mathematician and Magic: The Gathering creator Richard Garfield. It offers a virtual wrestling arena where players can compete and earn BRWL tokens. These tokens can be used to purchase or craft content and equipment for the NFT wrestlers. Additionally, all in-game items, except for the Brawlers themselves, can be sold, traded, or gifted between players.
Bringing Web3 to Mainstream Gaming
The launch of Brawlers on the Epic Games Store is seen as a significant step towards the mass adoption of Web3 in gaming. Michael Rubinelli, Chief Gaming Officer at WAX, believes that this move further accelerates the paradigm shift in gaming by bringing blockchain-powered fairness and inclusivity closer to mainstream audiences.
Gamers Maintain Control Over Assets
Brawlers is powered by BRWL tokens and features cross-platform functionality via NFT bridges to Polygon, Ethereum, and BNB Chain. Players have full ownership and control over their assets, allowing them to trade or exchange them as they wish. This player-centric approach avoids exploitative microtransactions commonly found in traditional games.
WAX Leading in Transactions
According to DappRadar, WAX currently leads in terms of the number of transactions among blockchain platforms. It has facilitated the trade of over 100 million digital collectibles, including Major League Baseball and Capcom’s “Street Fighter.” In comparison, Solana ranks second in transactions.
Hot Take: Brawlers’ Launch on Epic Games Store Marks a Milestone for Web3 Gaming
The launch of Brawlers on the Epic Games Store is a significant milestone for the mass adoption of Web3 in gaming. By bringing blockchain-powered fairness and inclusivity to a mainstream gaming platform with millions of users, it paves the way for more developers to create successful Web3 games.
