Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) has announced the details of Hong Kong FinTech Week 2023 (HKFW), which will take place from October 30 to November 5. This flagship event, themed “Fintech Redefined,” aims to shape the future of fintech across various dimensions of financial services and beyond. HKFW is organized by the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau (FSTB) and InvestHK, and co-organized by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), and the Insurance Authority (IA). It is expected to attract over 30,000 attendees from more than 90 economies.
The main physical conference, taking place on November 2 and 3 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, will feature over 300 distinguished speakers and 540 exhibitors. The conference will explore six key themes, including global regulations, sustainable finance, artificial intelligence (AI), Web3, emerging frontiers, opportunities in the Greater Bay Area, Hong Kong’s innovation journey, and business showcases.
The Acting Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Mr Joseph Chan, stated that Hong Kong’s fintech industry is entering a new era where it is no longer just about technology but also its real-life application. He believes that HKFW 2023 will serve as a platform to showcase advancements in fintech and demonstrate how it can improve financial inclusion, enhance customer experience, and drive sustainable growth.
HKFW will also feature captivating metaverse experiences that highlight cutting-edge technologies through immersive and educational engagements. These experiences will demonstrate the possibilities of the metaverse in connecting businesses and promoting Hong Kong culture.
Additionally, there will be a cross-boundary Greater Bay Area Day on October 31, presenting opportunities between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. A full day forum will be organized in Shenzhen followed by company tours to Mainland tech giants.
The event will include dedicated spaces such as the Investor Lounge, Venture Stage, and workshops designed for investors. InvestHK will introduce the Women in Tech Lounge, a unique space with special workshops, panels, and networking events tailored to empower and connect women in the tech industry.
Dr Jimmy Chiang, the Acting Director-General of Investment Promotion of InvestHK, expressed excitement about HKFW, stating that it is the ultimate gathering for anyone eager to explore the frontiers of finance and technology. He believes that HKFW reinforces Hong Kong’s status as Asia’s World City, financial center, and fintech hub.
InvestHK will also host the grand finale of the Global Scaleup Competition during HKFW. Thirteen finalists have been selected by a panel of 50 international judges, including investors who collectively manage over US$54 billion in assets. This event is part of the broader Global Fast Track 2023 program that aims to foster connections between fintech firms, corporate clients, investors, and industry partners.
The main conference will feature esteemed speakers from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and regulators, mainland government and regulators, and industry leaders. The list includes prominent figures such as Mr John Lee (Chief Executive), Mr Paul Chan (Financial Secretary), Mr Christopher Hui (Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury), Mr Bill Winters (Group Chief Executive of Standard Chartered PLC), and many more.
HKFW will also include a series of events under VIVA HONG KONG featuring a diverse range of financial, tech, Web3, and cultural events throughout the city.
