Bitcoin Ordinal Count Resurgence
The cumulative count of Ordinal inscriptions has surpassed 36 million, signaling a departure from the recent downtrend in daily onchain inscription issuances. While it hasn’t reached the peaks seen in early September, there has been a noticeable resurgence since October 25, with daily inscriptions surpassing 100,000.
A Decline and Potential Renaissance
From September 24 to October 13, there was a significant decline in the number of Ordinal inscriptions, reaching a low of less than 10,000. However, on October 24, a pivot occurred with approximately 74,257 inscriptions minted. The following day saw an even stronger surge with 184,480 inscriptions.
A Growing Trend
Since then, daily inscriptions have consistently surpassed 125,000. Similar to Bitcoin’s mempool or transaction backlog, there are currently around 29,000 to 40,000 unconfirmed transactions waiting for miner validation. The Bitcoin blockchain has also seen an increase in daily transactions from 250,000-300,000 to 400,000-475,000.
Impressive Mining Rewards
Bitcoin miners have accumulated approximately 2,137 BTC worth around $72 million solely from inscription minting. On October 28, there were a substantial 283,950 daily inscriptions recorded.
Hot Take: Bitcoin Ordinal Inscriptions See Revival
The recent surge in daily onchain inscription issuances for Bitcoin’s Ordinal inscriptions is a positive sign of revival after a period of decline. While it hasn’t reached the levels seen in early September yet, the consistent increase in daily inscriptions and transactions indicates growing activity on the Bitcoin blockchain. This resurgence presents an opportunity for miners to accumulate significant rewards through inscription minting. As the number of inscriptions continues to rise, it will be interesting to see how this trend impacts the overall Bitcoin ecosystem.
