Regulatory Uncertainty Slows Down Institutional Adoption of Crypto
Raoul Pal, a renowned macro guru and cryptocurrency enthusiast, recently discussed the challenges faced by institutions entering the crypto space. One significant hurdle is regulation, as regulatory uncertainty can hinder the adoption of crypto assets and blockchain technology.
The Anticipation of Bitcoin and Ethereum Spot ETFs
Pal spoke with Scott Melkar about the highly anticipated Bitcoin and Ethereum Spot ETFs. He believes that these ETFs will have a gradual impact on the crypto market, similar to the price appreciation seen during Bitcoin halving events. Rather than expecting an immediate surge in prices, Pal sees these ETFs as a long-term driver of growth.
Institutional Money and Market Liquidity
When the Bitcoin Spot ETF and Ethereum Spot ETF are introduced, they are expected to attract more institutional money into the crypto market. However, it may take some time for their effects to be felt in terms of price increase. Pal predicts that over time, pension funds and larger asset managers will enter the crypto space, further boosting market liquidity and growth.
“The ETH spot ETF will happen as well; of course, it’ll be later; as soon as the Bitcoin one is done, they’ll front run it by going to the ETH one because they know that’s the next one. The Bitcoin ETF, I don’t think of as a one-off event… Trade agreements start working when people get a return on their capital in that new economy, and then they pile in.”
The Future of NFTs
Pal also shared his thoughts on non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and the tokenization of real-world assets. While NFTs have gained significant attention and high sales in recent years, Pal believes that the initial hype may fade. However, he sees potential for NFTs to be realized in the future.
