Shiba Inu Introduces SHIB Name Service and Messaging System
Shiba Inu has launched its SHIB Name Service (SNS) on the Shibarium Layer-2 network, aiming to move beyond its meme coin status. The SNS enables users to replace complex blockchain addresses with easy-to-remember domain names. Similar to Ethereum Name Service (ENS), which offers human-readable names for crypto addresses, Shiba Inu’s SNS allows interested parties to secure “.SHIB” domains through name.shib.io using Bone ShibaSwap (BONE) tokens.
In addition to the SNS, Shytoshi Kusama, Shiba Inu’s lead developer, has introduced an encrypted peer-to-peer messaging system on the Shibarium platform. These developments are part of the project’s broader decentralized identity scheme called SHIBDentity. The goal is to create a comprehensive identity protocol that protects users’ digital identities from theft and adheres to World Wide Web Consortium standards.
