Introducing Japanese Web2 Games on Ronin by the Developer of Axie Infinity

Axie Infinity Partners with Act Games to Bring Japanese Video Game Franchises to Ronin Blockchain

Sky Mavis, the developer behind the popular NFT game Axie Infinity, has announced a partnership with Korean gaming studio Act Games. The collaboration aims to bring various Japanese video game franchises to the Ronin blockchain, which is native to Axie Infinity.

Bringing Zoids Wild Arena and More to Ronin

The first game to be migrated to Ronin as part of this partnership is Zoids Wild Arena. Inspired by Tomy’s award-winning anime series, Zoids Wild Arena is based on Japan’s largest toy manufacturer’s iconic franchise. Other franchises that will be brought to Ronin include Hello Kitty Aggretsuko and Bubble Bobble.

Combining Web3 Expertise with Nostalgic IP

Trung Nguyen, CEO and co-founder of Sky Mavis, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating that Act Games excels at expanding iconic IPs and enhancing player engagement. Nguyen believes that combining their web3 knowledge and expertise with nostalgic IP backed by a pre-existing fanbase will be a winning formula.

Incentives for Users

As part of the partnership, initial incentives will be offered to users. Those who migrate to a Ronin wallet to play Zoids Wild Arena will receive Zoids NFTs and a token drop. Act Games has already developed four arcade-style games since 2019, generating $6.4 million in net sales and accumulating 3 million downloads.

Axie Infinity’s Success and Ronin’s Growth

Axie Infinity has achieved remarkable success since its launch, with $4.2 billion in NFT sales volume, millions of daily active users, and $1.3 billion in revenue. Ronin, the gaming blockchain powered by the Ethereum Virtual Machine, is second only to Ethereum itself in terms of NFT sales transactions.

Hot Take: Axie Infinity Expands its Reach with Japanese Franchises

Axie Infinity’s partnership with Act Games to bring popular Japanese video game franchises to the Ronin blockchain is a significant move for the NFT game. By tapping into nostalgic IP and leveraging Act Games’ expertise, Axie Infinity aims to attract a wider audience and further establish itself as a leading player in the blockchain gaming industry. With its impressive track record and the growing popularity of NFTs, Axie Infinity continues to solidify its position as a key player in the crypto space.
