Amazon to Launch Olympus
Amazon, the largest online retailer and tech provider, is set to launch Olympus, a Large Language Model (LLM), through its web services branch, AWS (Amazon Web Services). This new model is expected to have a significant impact on Amazon’s online retail platform and advance features within the Alexa voice assistant on devices like the Amazon Echo.
Amazon Ventures Into AI
Amazon delayed the launch of Titan, a large language model that was initially planned for cloud client services. This delay was due to its inferior performance compared to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Subsequently, Amazon focused on developing a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) model that could rival any other LLM.
Amazon’s Olympus Details
Olympus has almost 2 trillion parameters, making it one of the largest LLMs developed. Although the exact launch date hasn’t been announced, it’s expected sometime around December. The development of Olympus is being led by Rohit Prasad, former head of Alexa.
In other news, Alibaba’s fintech affiliate Ant Group unveiled its most recent AI model called Bailing. The Chinese tech giant has previously introduced Tongyi Qianwen 2.0, an LLM said to rival Open AI and other LLM developers.
