Binance CEO Slams Roubini for Using Binance Logo Without Permission
Changpeng Zhao, the CEO of Binance, criticized economist Nouriel Roubini for using the Binance logo and name on his website without permission as he launched his own crypto token. Zhao called Roubini “shameless” and expressed his disapproval of the unauthorized use of Binance’s logo.
Roubini, known for predicting the 2008 global financial crisis, is behind the Atlas Climate Token (ACT), which aims to transform climate finance and promote asset safety. The project claims to protect populations in developing countries from the volatility of local currencies by providing a digital store of value.
Roubini’s Criticism of Binance
Zhao and Roubini have a history of conflict, with Roubini publicly criticizing Binance as a “walking time bomb.” During an interview at the November Abu Dhabi Finance Week 2022 forum, Roubini expressed his disapproval of Binance securing a UAE license and questioned Zhao’s transparency regarding Binance’s headquarters location.
Atlas Climate Token Project
The Atlas website has removed the Binance logo but still mentions team members who previously worked at Binance. Other contributors to the project include Wall Street giants BlackRock and Goldman Sachs.
Hot Take: Crypto Industry Drama Continues
The ongoing conflict between Zhao and Roubini highlights the tension between traditional finance and the crypto industry. As both sides continue to clash, it remains to be seen how this will impact the future of cryptocurrency regulation and adoption.
