Elon Musk and Sam Altman Engage in Online Spat Over AI
Competition is vital in business and technology, but it can lead to eyebrow-raising moments. The latest online spat involves X (formerly Twitter) owner Elon Musk and Sam Altman, head of rival AI firm OpenAI. Altman suggested that his firm’s tech could easily replace Musk’s in a few simple steps.
In screenshots posted to Twitter, ChatGPT asked Altman, “What would you like to make?” Altman responded with a prompt poking fun at Musk’s recently released artificial intelligence from xAI.
ChatGPT then responded by setting up a chatbot named Grok with an insult aimed at Musk. Musk retaliated by posting a response claiming to be from Grok, mocking GPT-4’s humor.
Grok Fires Back at OpenAI
Grok also aimed an insult at OpenAI’s attempts to sanitize its AI platform after claims of racism, bias, and lying surfaced around ChatGPT since its launch last year.
This public spat isn’t the first for Musk. He previously took credit for creating OpenAI and challenged Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to a cage fight in June. Over $120,000 has been wagered on Polymarket on whether the fight would happen.
