Rise of Crypto Gaming: Over One Million Daily Active Wallets Engaged

“Crypto-Enabled Games Reach One Million Unique Wallets in October“

Last month, there was a continuous growth in crypto-enabled games, and they reached one million daily unique active wallets (DUAWs) on multiple dates in October. This figure is higher than the one million DUAWs on three days in September. According to DappRadar’s report, the overall daily average for October gradually increased over the course of the month.

This increase comes at a time when some of the biggest crypto games are battling against an influx of automated bots. This challenge has been seen before in late 2021 and early 2022 with games like Splinterlands, Alien Worlds, and Axie Infinity pushing numbers past the one million DAU mark. However, over the years, games like Alien Worlds have been dealing with bot accounts, which makes it unclear as to how many of its users are real humans.

In the past month, games like Alien Worlds, Sweat Economy, SecondLive, Splinterlands, and Battle Left Center Right (BLCR) registered the highest numbers of daily unique active wallets. Although Alien Worlds had roughly 133,000 daily UAWs, some of these could be bot accounts. Sweat Economy’s Cofounder Oleg Fomenko stated that it is unlikely that his game has many bots.

Another game that saw a spike in activity was Pixels after migrating to Axie Infinity’s Ethereum sidechain Ronin. However, there were reports that botting or automated account creation inflated Pixels’ numbers.

Naavik argued last year that unique wallet figures are “prone to bots,” and that transaction volume is a better metric to gauge authentic user activity. There’s a broad discussion on social media about how valuable these figures are and whether they paint a realistic picture of blockchain game demand.

“Hot Take: Crypto Gaming on the Rise but Plagued by Bot Activity“

The rise in crypto gaming is evident with over one million DUAWs registered last month. However, this growth is being plagued by bot activities which make it difficult to determine actual user activity. It raises questions about the reliability of such figures and highlights the ongoing struggle against bot accounts in blockchain games.
