During a recent live stream, Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Input Output Global (IOG), discussed the final phase of Cardano’s roadmap, Voltaire, and the integration of a new sidechain named Midnight. This phase marks a significant shift towards decentralization for the Cardano ecosystem.
Voltaire will bring about a fully decentralized governance structure for Cardano. As part of this process, IOG will move all repositories to a community-run project called Intersect, paving the way for the establishment of specialized blockchains known as “partnerchains.” Midnight, a privacy-focused sidechain, will play a crucial role in this network.
Each partnerchain will have its own tokenomics and consensus logic, similar to what is seen on Avalanche’s subnets. This development has sparked optimism among Cardano pool operators, who see potential in earning fees from all partnerchains by staking ADA.
