Scammers Target Nansen Customers with Fake Airdrops After Data Leak
Customers of Nansen, a web3 threat researcher, are being targeted by scammers through phishing emails following a data breach involving one of the firm’s third-party vendors. The exposed customers have reported receiving emails claiming they are eligible for an airdrop from Nansen.
Fake Airdrop Emails
The phishing emails contain a fake letter from Nansen, offering customers the opportunity to claim their $NANSEN token. The letter includes a malicious link and is being distributed through an email registered on networkforgood.com. Nansen has not yet made any public statements regarding the issue.
Data Breach and Hack
In September 2023, Nansen CEO Alex Svanevik revealed that some of the firm’s clients were exposed due to a hack on a third-party vendor. This vendor, which serves numerous Fortune 500 companies, experienced a hacker attack that granted unauthorized access to an account used by Nansen for customer platform access. Approximately 7% of Nansen’s customers may have been affected.
