Max Keiser Reverses Course on Efforts to Facilitate Discussion on BTC between Bukele and Argentina’s Milei

Bitcoiner Max Keiser Withdraws Request for Bukele and Milei Bitcoin Talk

Bitcoin enthusiast Max Keiser has retracted his request to get El Salvador President Nayib Bukele and Argentina’s President-elect Javier Milei to discuss BTC. Keiser, a senior advisor to Bukele on BTC matters, publicly asked Bukele for permission to invite Milei to San Salvador. However, Bukele has not responded yet. Another bitcoiner noted that Bukele has recently been less vocal about Bitcoin on social media. Nevertheless, Bukele reposted a picture of himself with Keiser and Keiser’s wife Stacy Herbert. Keiser later expressed the need for El Salvador to become a “Bitcoin country” before focusing on Argentina. Both leaders have shown interest in Bitcoin but may differ in their approaches.

Just How Bitcoin-keen Are Bukele and Milei?

President Bukele aims to make history by running for re-election in next year’s presidential elections after successfully changing the constitution. He adopted Bitcoin as legal tender in 2021 but has slowed down his government’s BTC-buying policies. Meanwhile, President-elect Milei has praised Bitcoin and expressed plans to abolish Argentina’s fiat peso. However, the two leaders may clash as Bukele wants to de-dollarize El Salvador’s economy while Milei plans to dollarize Argentina. Despite critics’ skepticism, some Argentine political figures have advocated for embracing BTC instead of the USD. Milei won the presidential election with 55% of the vote.
