An unidentified individual posted a message about a Stargate vote that included a phishing link. This led to over 1,000 people falling victim to the scam, as reported by PeckShield platform experts.
The Scammer’s Tactics
The moderator of the LayerZero project’s Discord channel reported the incident. They mentioned that the attacker purchased 50,000 STG to create a voting proposal on the Snapshot site. Subsequently, they made an announcement about the first phase of gSTG token distribution.
Unfortunately, this advertisement contained a phishing link that directed users to a fraudulent website. More than 1,000 individuals followed this link.
Losses and Current Wallet Balance
The scammer managed to acquire assets worth over $43,000. As of now, the wallet balance continues to grow and has already reached $63,000, according to DeBank. The wallet contains more than 17,700 ARB, 4587 OP, 2.65 ETH, and various other assets.
