The ‘Stand With Crypto’ Campaign Brings Presidential Candidates Together for Blockchain Discussion

The cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has launched the ‘Stand With Crypto’ campaign, which aims to gather candidates for the 2024 United States Presidential Election to engage in a conversation about blockchain technology and digital assets. Republican candidates Asa Hutchinson and Vivek Ramaswamy, as well as Democratic candidate Dean Phillips, are confirmed to appear in person in New Hampshire on Dec. 11 to discuss issues related to digital assets. Several other candidates were invited but have not yet confirmed their attendance.

New Hampshire Primary and Potential Candidates

The New Hampshire primary, scheduled for Jan. 23, will provide insight into the upcoming U.S. Presidential Election. While President Joe Biden is expected to represent the Democratic Party, he is not listed as “confirmed” or “invited” on the event website. Former President Donald Trump has never participated in any Republican Party debate leading up to the 2024 election. Current polls suggest that Biden is most likely to face Trump in 2024.

Uncertainty Surrounding Crypto’s Impact on the Election

It remains uncertain whether the Dec. 11 forum will significantly influence voters’ perspectives on cryptocurrency. While some candidates have made digital assets a focal point of their campaigns, frontrunners Biden and Trump rarely discuss crypto and blockchain publicly. Additionally, former President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador recently resigned to run for office in 2024 after advocating for Bitcoin adoption in his country.

Hot Take: The Intersection of Politics and Crypto

The ‘Stand With Crypto’ campaign’s efforts to bring presidential candidates together for discussions on blockchain technology and digital assets highlight the growing importance of cryptocurrencies in political discourse. By providing a platform for candidates to address the crypto community, this campaign aims to shed light on the potential impact of blockchain and digital assets on future policies. However, the extent to which these discussions will influence voters and candidates’ positions remains uncertain, as crypto-related topics are still relatively niche within the broader political landscape.
