RJV International Acquires Raini Studios
Crypto infrastructure firm Ceden and NFT collection Kanpai Pandas have jointly acquired Raini Studios, forming a new venture called RJV International DBA Raini Studios. The team’s token, RST, has consolidated its previous RAINI and PHOTON tokens and will now operate on the Avalanche subnet Beam. The three teams are already working on a new game using a popular combat game intellectual property, with more details to be revealed soon. Raini Lead Designer Marty Burgess and the entire Raini team will remain with the studio post-acquisition.
New Game Development and Leadership
The newly formed studio is developing an unannounced combat game with Ceden CEO Alex Moody overseeing operations. Michael Haller, co-founder of Ceden and a veteran of the game industry, will lead development as the studio’s head of gaming. Kanpai CEO Josh McClean expressed confidence in keeping the Raini team intact, while Haller praised their coding abilities.
Moving Towards Avalanche Ecosystem
Raini Studios’ RST token is now part of the Avalanche ecosystem, with liquidity pools established on both Avalanche and Ethereum DeFi platforms. The team is also working on cross-chain compatibility through a LayerZero integration, allowing traders to convert their existing Raini tokens into RST. Additionally, they plan to integrate cross-chain functionality for Lords of Light card packs, giving players the option to hold their NFTs on their preferred blockchain.
Challenges in Traditional Game Launchers
Raini Studios aims to appeal to audiences beyond the crypto world with its next game. However, getting blockchain games onto traditional game launchers may become increasingly difficult as crypto games try to fit into the broader game market.
