P2P NFT Trader Platform Experiences Breach, Urges Users to Revoke Approval

NFT Trader Breached: Blue-Chip NFTs Wrongfully Transferred

An incident of suspected breach has occurred on NFT Trader, resulting in the wrongful transfer of several blue-chip non-fungible tokens (NFTs). According to a post by Chinese crypto news reporter Colin Wu, these NFTs were sent to a specific address. The address holder later claimed to have rescued the NFTs and denied being the hacker. They identified another address as the real hacker. NFT Trader announced that it had suffered an attack on old smart contracts and urged users to remove delegations to specific addresses.

Hacker Demands Bounty for Returning Stolen NFTs

The hacker who allegedly stole the NFTs sent demands through an on-chain message. They insisted that owners pay them a 10% bounty for their “work” in returning the assets. However, members of the crypto community, including market analysts, are skeptical about complying with these demands. They warn traders not to blindly send their ETH and question the integrity of the hacker’s word.

Victims Speak Out: Losses and Security Lapses

Several victims of the NFT Trade exploit shared their experiences. One victim, TFG, revealed that he lost two valuable Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFTs because he used NFT Trader as a trading platform in the past. Another user pointed out security lapses in NFTTrader’s smart contract that made it vulnerable to exploitation. The contract lacked a publicly visible pause function, leaving everyone helpless in stopping the hack.

Light Among the Dark: BAYC Founder Offers Support

Despite the unfortunate situation, there is a glimmer of hope for victims. BAYC’s founder, Greg Solano, has offered to pay 10% of the bounty demanded by the hacker to ensure the safe return of the NFTs. This gesture provides some relief and assistance to those affected by the breach.

Hacker’s Unexpected Twist: Returning NFTs Without Bounty

In a surprising turn of events, the hacker voluntarily returned a World of Women (WOW) NFT without demanding any payment. They also returned a BAYC and a VeeFriends token to their rightful owners without further demands. This unexpected twist has left the community both astonished and uncertain about the motives behind the hacker’s actions.
