Solana Mobile Faces Inventory Issues, Resulting in Order Cancellations and Refunds
Solana Mobile, a mobile tech company, experienced high demand for its Saga product, leading to sellouts in the US and EU. However, the limited inventory of 20,000 devices globally and an inventory management issue with a third-party distributor have caused challenges in fulfilling orders.
Due to the inventory problem, the available stock was inaccurately represented, preventing the company from fulfilling orders placed after depletion. Additionally, suspicious orders with excessive quantities or payment risk were canceled. Affected customers have been notified and will receive refunds.
Critical Vulnerability Exploit on Solana Saga Phone
In November 2023, CertiK discovered a critical vulnerability in Solana’s flagship Saga phone that could allow hackers to compromise the device’s software. However, Solana Labs’ lead mobile software engineer stated that there are no known vulnerabilities or security risks for Saga owners.
Uncertain Future for Solana’s Smartphone Sales
In early December, Solana CEO Anatoly Yakovenko acknowledged disappointing sales for the smartphone. However, the recent BONK token craze led to quick sellouts as Saga owners could claim free tokens.
