Projects in Decentralized Physical Infrastructure (DePIN) Are Thriving
Projects involving decentralized physical infrastructure (DePIN) are flourishing, allowing users to operate their wireless networks, participate in a decentralized GPU network, or run a small weather station. DIMO (Digital Infrastructure for Moving Objects) is one of the DePIN projects to watch out for in 2024. Launched in late 2022, DIMO aims to be the world’s first decentralized, open, connected vehicle network. The project prioritizes users as the main beneficiaries of technology and designed DIMO as an open, user-owned network.
The DIMO Marketplace is a vision for the future of an open, connected auto ecosystem that enables drivers to own their data. We’re proud of the growing collection of cost-saving services, vehicle utilities, and apps that make owning a connected vehicle more rewarding and fun.

Addressing the Problem
Automakers have been safeguarding vehicle data in a walled garden, depriving drivers of access and ownership. However, DePIN projects like DIMO aim to change this by involving drivers and users in the process. DIMO provides an open and interconnected ecosystem where drivers can compile and share their own vehicle data with businesses and developers. By participating in the open ecosystem, drivers can gain knowledge about their cars and receive incentives while contributing valuable data for developing new applications and technologies.
