Disgraced Terraform Labs Founder Do Kwon Requests Delay in SEC Trial
Do Kwon, the founder of Terraform Labs, is seeking a delay in his trial with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) until March so that he can appear in court. Kwon’s lawyers have submitted a letter to District Judge Jed S. Rakoff, asking for the trial to be postponed until Kwon, who is currently detained in Montenegro, can be extradited.
If the judge cannot grant the request, Kwon’s lawyers request that the jury be informed about his inability to testify. They explain that Kwon wants to attend his trial and had hoped for a quicker resolution to his extradition proceedings. However, it appears that he will not be extradited until at least February or March.
Kwon was arrested last year in Montenegro while attempting to fly to Dubai with forged documents. He is wanted by authorities in both the US and South Korea for his alleged involvement in the collapse of the Terra ecosystem in 2022.
