ATMTA Plans 1,000-Player Stress Test for Star Atlas
ATMTA, the company behind the popular Solana-based video game Star Atlas, is organizing a stress test on private servers to showcase the game’s immersive environments. The test aims to have up to 1,000 real players in a single lobby on a single server instance. Players with access codes can participate in the test.
Partnership with MetaGravity
In July, ATMTA partnered with MetaGravity to improve Star Atlas’ physics and server infrastructure. MetaGravity’s technology allows for massive, single worlds that support many users simultaneously without performance issues.
Past Experiences and Events
SAGE Labs, a browser-based game from the developers of Star Atlas, accounted for 15% of all Solana traffic on October 8 last year. Star Atlas was also showcased at the Solana PlayGG event and demonstrated its potential as an open-world video game.
The Difference with Improbable
ATMTA CEO Michael Wagner explained the difference between MetaGravity and Improbable’s approach to spatial partitioning in multiplayer games. MetaGravity uses causal partitioning, allowing Star Atlas to have massive, single worlds that can support many users simultaneously.
The Stress Test and Future Plans
The stress test will collect performance metrics and user feedback to improve Star Atlas. After the test, the roadmap includes on-chain character progression, ship mastery, inventory management, hover racing, and full multiplayer support with various game modes.
The Vision for Star Atlas
Despite setbacks and financial losses, ATMTA remains committed to its long-term mission of bringing Star Atlas to life. The team believes in the future of blockchain gaming on Solana and its scalability for large user bases with real-time on-chain transactions.
Hot Take: Star Atlas Prepares for a Massive Stress Test
ATMTA is gearing up for a 1,000-player stress test to showcase the immersive environments of Star Atlas. With the goal of testing the game’s stability and performance, this stress test marks an important milestone for the Solana-based video game. The partnership with MetaGravity has allowed Star Atlas to create massive, single worlds that can support numerous players simultaneously. The feedback and data collected from the stress test will help improve the game’s features and pave the way for future updates. Despite challenges along the way, ATMTA remains optimistic about the future of blockchain gaming on Solana and is committed to its vision for Star Atlas.
