Arbitrum’s Xai Gaming Network Welcomes Crypto Unicorns
Arbitrum’s Xai gaming network has announced that blockchain game developer Laguna Games will be migrating Crypto Unicorns and its related NFT games from the Ethereum sidechain network Polygon. The Crypto Unicorns ecosystem, which includes land-based building and battling experiences, spinoff jousting, and party games, has generated approximately $35 million in trading volume through its NFTs.
Challenges with Operating on Polygon
Laguna Games faced challenges operating on Polygon, particularly due to network gas spikes that increased operating costs and created friction for players. To address this issue, Laguna Games began subsidizing players’ network gas fees but found it unsustainable. Xai, a layer-3 gaming network built on top of Arbitrum, offers a gas subsidy that allows players to avoid these fees entirely.
Migrating to Xai
Laguna Games is working closely with Ex Populus, the game studio partnering with the Xai Foundation and Arbitrum developer Offchain Labs, to migrate its contracts over to Xai. This migration will be the largest in the history of blockchain games due to the number of smart contracts involved. The process will include several migrations along with potential airdrop announcements.
