In tech we trust
Artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchains are set to revolutionize the way we trade, interact, and live our lives. These technologies will make three key aspects of our existence more “liquid” – identity, ownership, and work. Our identities, which are currently defined by traditional systems, can be easily and quickly verified through decentralized registries and intelligent computing. This can eliminate barriers to obtaining identification documents and provide identity to the billions of people who currently lack it. Digital agents, powered by AI, will also need identities and ethical frameworks to ensure accountability.
Who art thou?
Identity verification will become faster and more efficient through unique keys protected on blockchain technology. This will streamline processes such as passport renewals. However, questions arise about who owns these digital identities and the principles by which they operate. Similarly, digital agents or avatars will need to be identified and governed by rules that define their actions and responsibilities. New international standards and protocols are needed to ensure transparency and decentralization in the development of digital identities.
