The CEO of GEC, Samuel Reid, confirmed this in a tweet, stating that they had no other choice but to use DOGE to repay SpaceX if they wanted to proceed with the mission. It is unclear why the payment had to be made in DOGE, but it could be because the initial payment for launching the satellite was also made in the meme coin. However, Reid did not provide a specific timeline for when Doge-1 will likely launch. He only mentioned that it could launch with the IM-2 mission or another SpaceX mission, depending on when it is shipped to the US.
