Mastercard has unveiled a new NFT-powered soccer trivia game for the 2023/2024 UEFA Champions League tournament. This game allows fans to test their knowledge of the league and offers them the chance to win match tickets, as stated in a press release. The competition will commence 30 minutes before Tuesday night UEFA Champions League matches, starting from February 13. Mastercard customers can participate by collecting branded NFT passes through the company’s “Pass to Priceless” platform. These NFT passes are minted on Polygon, an Ethereum scaling network.
Trivia Game and Prizes
In the trivia game, players can answer questions about Champions League history and statistics. The winners of each round will earn match tickets and ascend a season-long leaderboard. The player with the highest score after the April 30 semi-finals will win tickets to the Champions League Final at Wembley Stadium in London.

The technology behind Mastercard’s NFT-driven experience was developed by crypto payments firm MoonPay, with support from MoonPay’s Otherlife creative agency. Last October, MoonPay and Mastercard announced their plans to collaborate on Web3 initiatives.
