Breaking: Terra’s Do Kwon Extradition Revoked By Montenegro Court
Terra co-founder Do Kwon has successfully appealed to reject his extradition from Montenegro. The Court of Appeals of Montenegro revoked the previous decision by the Montenegro High Court and returned the case for retrial.
Montenegro Court Accepts Do Kwon’s Appeal
The appellate court accepted Do Kwon’s appeal due to significant violations in the criminal procedure decision. It agreed with his attorneys that the wording of the decision was incomprehensible and that the extradition requests were not handled clearly. The court stated that the Minister of Justice, not the trial court, should make a decision on extradition.
Former Terra CFO Extradited to South Korea
Han Chang-joon, the former CFO of Terraform Labs, has been extradited to South Korea after serving a prison sentence in Montenegro. He was arrested alongside Do Kwon while trying to escape from the country. Han faces potential life imprisonment in South Korea for his involvement in the Terra-LUNA crisis.
SEC Case Against Terraform Labs Delayed
The SEC’s case against Terraform Labs and Do Kwon has been postponed, likely to allow authorities to extradite Do Kwon from Montenegro. His legal representatives have indicated his willingness to attend the trial in March and agreed to extradition.
