Unexpected Testimony in Bitcoin’s Creation Trial
The trial questioning Craig Wright’s claim to be Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin, has reached its second week. On the stand, Wright’s sister, Danielle DeMorgan, mentioned a story from her blog post about seeing her brother dressed as a ninja, which she thinks suggests he created Bitcoin. Mark Archbold, a witness for Wright, testified about a 2005 conversation they had about digital currency, and how it connects Wright to Bitcoin’s creation.
Challenges for Wright in Satoshi Identity Trial
Cerian Jones, a patent attorney, discussed how Wright’s patents suggest he might be Bitcoin’s creator. COPA’s lawyer, Jonathan Hough, questioned Jones about the challenges of being linked to Wright, describing him as “a very divisive character.” The trial is set to resume next week, including testimonies from additional witnesses for Wright, including David Bridges and Max Lynam.
Known for suing major Bitcoin figures, Wright is frequently in legal battles. COPA is challenging him in the British High Court of Justice, seeking to prevent him from claiming the Bitcoin whitepaper’s copyright and contesting his claim as the cryptocurrency’s creator.
