Famed Crypto YouTuber Confirms Authenticity of Photo Showing Jailed FTX Founder
Famed crypto YouTuber and insider Tiffany Fong has confirmed that the circulating image of Sam Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of collapsed crypto exchange FTX, is indeed authentic. The photo, believed to have been taken on December 17, 2023, shows Bankman-Fried with a beard and appearing noticeably thinner alongside five other inmates.
A Rare Glimpse of Bankman-Fried in Jail
Tiffany Fong, an independent crypto reporter, shared the photo and described it as the “first and only” image of Bankman-Fried since his conviction for fraud in August 2023. She also provided a snippet of an interview with another inmate known as G-Lock, who had interacted with Bankman-Fried. Despite describing him as strange, G-Lock considered him a good person.
Insight from an Inmate
G-Lock, allegedly a member of the Bloods gang, revealed in his post-release interview with Fong that Bankman-Fried had gone from being clean-shaven to having a scruffy appearance. The full interview will be released on Fong’s YouTube channel next week.

Members of the crypto community expressed their thoughts on the photo and Bankman-Fried’s situation:
- One user expressed sympathy for Bankman-Fried despite their financial losses on FTX.
