The DFINITY Foundation, the parent company of the Internet Computer blockchain, shared insights on the updated roadmap, emphasizing the platform’s transformation into the world’s leading third-gen blockchain.
“Unveiling the Year 4 Roadmap and key milestones for ICP, the only third-gen blockchain. The World Computer is all set to bring all services and operations on-chain,” DFINITY explained.
The roadmap introduced new focus areas, including computing platforms, privacy enhancements, chain fusion, decentralized AI, and improvements in the developer experience.
Key Focus Areas of the Roadmap
- The platform will prioritize computing platforms, privacy, chain fusion, decentralized AI, and developer experience.
- Special emphasis will be placed on enhancing platform decentralization, identity, governance, tokenomics, and digital assets.
Advancements in Computing Platforms
ICP plans to achieve significant milestones in computing platforms, such as Tokamak and Stellaratos.
- Tokamak aims to reduce latency to enhance user experience.
- Stellaratos will focus on processing large datasets with a storage layer exceeding 1 terabyte.
The Road to Decentralized AI
The decentralized AI segment will focus on two key areas: Cyclotron and Gyrotron.
- Cyclotron aims to improve performance in smart contracts using chain inference.
- Gyrotron will utilize AI for training chain models and smart contracts.
The Interoperability Challenge
ICP’s roadmap includes plans for chain fusion to enable interoperability between Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other blockchains.
- Key milestones in this journey include Tritium, Deuterium, and Helium.
- Tritium will facilitate interaction with ETH and Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) smart contracts.
- Deuterium will support Bitcoin operations through chain fusion.
- Helium will bridge the gap between Solana and ICP.
