Taiko Announces Genesis Airdrop: A Reward for Early Supporters
Taiko, an Ethereum Layer-2 rollup project, has exciting news for you! They have recently announced their “genesis airdrop,” which is aimed at distributing 5% of their 1 billion token supply before the mainnet launch. This airdrop serves as a way to reward early supporters and contributors who have been integral to the project’s success.
Eligibility and Distribution for the Airdrop
- The genesis airdrop targets various community members, including those who interacted with the testnet, block proposers and provers, contributors to specific GitHub repositories, and Ethereum ICO participants.
- After the mainnet launch, users will have a one-month window to claim their TKO tokens.
The total token supply distribution is as follows:
- 48.5% for key stakeholders
- 20% for Taiko Labs and the core team
- 16.88% to Taiko Foundation reserves
- 11.62% to investors
- 20% held by the DAO Treasury
- 5% for grants and RetroPGF
- 5% for liquidity and market making
- 10% for the Trailblazer airdrop
Any unclaimed tokens will revert to the DAO Treasury, reinforcing Taiko’s commitment to decentralized governance and community control over a significant portion of the token supply.
What is Taiko?
Taiko is a project developing a decentralized, Ethereum-compatible Zero Knowledge Execution Environment (Type 1 ZK-EVM). This innovative technology utilizes zero-knowledge proofs to facilitate secure and private transactions. By enhancing the scalability and privacy of the Ethereum network, Taiko allows decentralized applications to operate more efficiently, securely, and with high transaction throughput without compromising security.
The latest milestone for Taiko was the introduction of its advanced testnet, Alpha-3 (Grímsvötn), representing a significant stride towards a decentralized ZK-EVM similar to Ethereum.
With successful funding rounds, including a $10 million seed round in 2022 led by Sequoia China and a $12 million pre-Series A round in 2023 led by Generative Ventures, Taiko has raised $22 million to support its projects.
Rewarding Early Supporters with the Genesis Airdrop
With substantial funding in place, Taiko’s genesis airdrop aims to recognize and incentivize early supporters while driving community engagement. Following development on six testnets, Taiko is on track for a mainnet launch that promises full compatibility with Ethereum’s mainnet.
